DamTour 2008 :

Maps for 2008 Dam List . . .

Twenty new dams to find and explore this year. It should be some great riding. Once again there are eight dams in Oregon, eight dams in Washington, and four bonus dams in the outlying states of Idaho, Montana, and new this year, Nevada, and one in Canada.

We hope these maps and directions will help you in your quest for some great life experiences. We tried to find interesting facts and/or links and photos to spur your imagination and excitement so you'll get that bike on the road and get going. Some 'dam' facts and photos were plentiful, others were very slim. If you find errors in any of the information, or you have some interesting facts or information on the dam areas to add, please let us know.

The four Bonus dams will challenge your stamina but provide some the greatest scenery and winding motorcycle roads available.  These far reaching dams will bring new meaning to the great motorcycle song, “Born to be Wild.” Remember the border crossing to Canada and be prepared, as ‘passports’ are a required item this year, for all forms of travel. (Late news... 2008 Rules Delayed check the link below for details.)

Check here for more info: Border Crossing Info & Links These great dams will require you to cross some pretty high elevations so check weather and roads conditions and plan to dress in a layered way for the ups and downs in temperature.

The eight dams in Oregon for DamTour 2008 will show you just how diverse Oregon is.  From the high desert in the eastern side to the beautiful southern Oregon, you can explore the winding roads and beautiful sights.

Six of these dams are less than 200 miles from PXD, one way, making your biggest single day trip for these, around 364 miles more or less.  Combine some for a longer day... and still make it easy.

Washington’s eight dams for this year give us an opportunity to enjoy the diverse beauty of Washington State. You can explore new country from the pacific coast to the Idaho and Canadian border while touring Washington dams.

Three of the Washington dams are within a single days run for most. Plan your routes and check weather and road conditions and get on your bike.
