~ Dugualla Dam ~ WA ~ 263 mi from PDX - 89 mi Sea-Tac.
Dugualla Dam is on Whidbey Island, and there isn't a lot out there about this small dam, which is similar to Honeymoon Lake Dam, of years past. Fortunately Jim Carroll to the rescue, who previewed this dam and took photos. Thank you Jim. You will however enjoy a beautiful ride out the island on a very scenic section of Hwy 20.
Dugualla Dam/Dike was built by the John Ducken's grandfather when in 1911 he bought land near Dugualla Bay with money he made working in the Alaska goldfields. The dike was built around the edge of Dugualla Bay so the lowlands behind the dike could be used for pasture. The property was sold to the Land Trust.
