Ochoco Dam was constructed on Ochoco Creek after World War I to form the current reservoir which was rehabilitated by the Bureau of Reclamation in 1949, increasing the reservoir capacity. Mill Creek and Ochoco Creek input to the reservoir and the output is Ochoco Creek. The dam lies along Hwy26 and can be viewed from the hwy and from a gravel parking lot just above the dam. The spillway is an open concrete chute at the south end of the dam.

Ochoco Dam is located 6 miles east of Prineville and this area and local parks are heavily used in the summer, be careful if you are on the road.
