We had "59" registered riders this year. We received no ride reports from 19 of them, and using a phrase, that Duane coined last year, they are the "goose eggs", and fell into the "shirt collectors" category . That means that "40" riders made the charts with at least one dam. Of the 59 bikes listed, or signed up with, in this years DamTour (we know some people have more than one) there were "26" Yamaha's, "8" Kawasaki's, "8" Suzuki's, "7" Honda's, "6" Harley's, and "3" BMW's. They ranged from 535cc to 1800cc. Now, As a disclaimer to all these "facts": This information is only as accurate as the reports I received. I am not responsible for unreported rides, events, or detail errors(except for calculation errors or my brain-dead omissions, and for those I truly apologize). So, here are more "stats" as reported, by message board posting, emails to me, or calls from the stores on reported rides. ![]()

The table at the right shows how many visits each dam had and the approximate distance from PDX, "one way". This does not include those not reported, nor second, third or more trips per rider. This totals up as "434" dam visits by our riders. The least visited dam was Revelstoke Dam with 12 visits, and the most visited dam was Merwin.
At the "Breakfast Awards" I think it was unanimous that the least favorite dam was "Wickiup", with its four miles of dirty, rutted, gravel road and then four miles back to pavement. A few bikes may have lost a few parts on that road. Boundary might have come in second due to the nasty road construction, but because of it's truly impressive structure and beauty, was really enjoyed and liked by most riders that made it there. Some favorites that heard were Libby, Hells Canyon, Boundary, and Oroville. I think Revelstoke was mentioned as well.
Road/Mileage Report . . .
Have any of you thought about the miles we travel? Well, we do have some real "butt burning " stories on some of our road trips, but when you think about the possible total mileage for DamTour Riders.... WOW. If a single rider starts for each dam from PDX and returns getting just that dam, well, to do all twenty dams would be "12,628 miles. " That is one rider, riding to all twenty dams in "one dam" trips. This is not making side trips, or snagging multiple dams on a single trip, which is easy to do, and can either reduce or add more miles.
Now lets take that a step further. Let's look at how many of our riders have been to each dam in the table at right (and again we are not including the extra rides of riders like Steve, Bob, Jim and I, or other riders that hits the dams more than once). Forty riders managed a total of "434" visits to these dams. If my calculations are correct, and we can assume that each rider did "single dam" trips, that would mean that the "possible total miles", the DamTour Riders rode this year, could be "223,400 miles". Now that is a few tires and a few more oil changes. That is almost "nine" times around the earth.
First Dam of the season was Merwin by Jim & Cheryll Malisch (6002 & 6004), and Pete Krenz (6054) on March 4th. First Bonus Dam of the season was Palisades by Steve Folkstad (6001) on June 25th. First to Earn an "oil change" in a very close race, was Duane Northrup (6052) on April 28th. First to Finish all twenty dams, was Jim & Cheryll Malisch (6002 & 6004) on July 7th.
And for another DT Stat, Tim Woolley and his lovely wife Jenny finished in the shortest time frame of the season. Getting their first dam on July 13th, and their last dam on September 24th. They made the "Picnic" and the the "Awards Breakfast", and they live in Lowell, OR. The furthest riders form the Portland Vancouver area. A big Congrats !!
